Epiphany Prayer

God of epiphanies—visions and revelations—

reveal your presence among us today.

Today:

as human violence takes over a normal day in Arizona,

citizens dead and a congresswoman critical—

light our way to healing.

Reveal your presence in nature’s violence—

in Australia—where flooding and fear continue—

light our way to refuge.

Reveal your presence in Sudan,

where one country discerns its future,

possibly as 2 separate nations—

light our way to peace.

And in our own small lives, O God:

reveal your presence—

not in brilliant stars,

but in the touch of a hand when we need it most;

in the telephone’s ring;

in wings at a birdfeeder;

in the refreshment of a full night’s rest.

Holy One,

reveal your guiding presence in the places we need you most—

light our way to hope…
