Some times in my life are like a giant parenthesis full of God's grandeur...and this is one of them...and I am grateful.
A friend of mine posted the above note on her Facebook page this week. I haven’t had a chance to ask her what the parentheses consist of particularly, but there is so much I can imagine filling my own parenthesis.
For example,
when I took a walk
not long ago
and saw the branches of this tree
raw against the edge of a winter-spring sky.
It seemed I could see every
bit of bark
outlined—stark and beautiful.
THAT was a moment when the giant parenthesis was full of God’s grandeur.
And today, coming home to Jamie having returned from Laramie—a completely normal thing, but amazing! A parenthesis. And I am grateful for such things. Especially in the midst of life’s great fullness.
A parenthesis: not the main point of a sentence, but an addition that makes all the difference.
Some times in my life are like a giant parenthesis full of God's grandeur...and this is one of them...and I am grateful.
What parenthesis fills your sentence today with more than you thought it might hold? What adds to your life?
Thanks be to God!

yes. thanks be to God. because maybe God can use what wasn't necessary for the completion of the sentence to bring goodness into the world.
