Hope Through the Ages

I'm still reading Joan Chittister's deep book on struggle & hope (see here for that post--no, not done yet!) as well as a brief daily meditation from Joyce Rupp's brand new Fragments of Your Ancient Name: 365 Glimpses of the Divine for Daily Meditation.

Today's "fragment" is Hope Through the Ages: a name for the Divine that seems fitting as we move into these days following Easter. The celebratory sounds of our resurrection party may be growing dim as we re-enter the daily routines (or, like me, you may be trying to catch up on all the "regular stuff" that got set aside as you walked through Holy Week and Easter). The hope that came with Christ's triumph over death seems a bit more distant.

But I take comfort in Rupp's meditation for today, which reads (in part):
     When all seems useless,
     And nothing is left,
     You remain by our side,
     Our true and lasting love.

Then she asks us to hold throughout the day: I reflect on what my hope is.

Today's fragment of God's name, Hope Through the Ages, is just one way to remind me that Easter really did happen--this past week, and every week before that. We are people of the resurrection.
Today I reflect on what my hope is.

ahhh, so many Names... and so many missing!

by the way, where do you find your books!?

Everywhere :). Some happen to pop up on Amazon as recommended after I buy other books... others are my favorite authors (Chittister & Rupp fall into that category), and others I find because another author has recommended or quoted them! All very convoluted and Spirit-driven, I think.

Miss you!
