In our silence, Holy One, we prepare ground for new growth in you.
Come sow your seeds of healing in the ready soil of our spirits.
Come turn our sadness with your gentle hands,
knead muscles worn-out from work
and minds exhausted by details and planning.
Come and plant within us your peace.
We allow a sigh of release for what has been in the space shuttle program these past decades:
for the learning and the awe that have entered our world through it.
And with the last shuttle launch, a hint of longing, a trace of nostalgia and whimsy envelope our minds.
seeds of compassion for those still seeking jobs, for all persons displaced
by war, danger, hunger, or the desire for freedom;
seeds of justice to amend all the ways we have missed the mark,
individually and communally;
seeds of hope that we may ever know you in our midst.
We open to you our inner lives, fresh with turned earth for you to plant new seeds.
And as you have planted the seeds, O Spirit,
water them also, give them all the nourishment for growth,
that through us, they may grow Shalom in this, your world.
