God of Love,
you feel our loss when we remember
loved ones no longer with us in this life.
And you feel our longing when memories
like photographs
slide through our minds with startling clarity.
And you feel like wrapping your love around us
just as we feel like wrapping our arms around
our loved ones again.
God of Love
slip peace quietly into the spaces where these holes hide in us:
peace where grief has grown,
peace where fear of the future has framed our imaginings,
peace where anger has bit into us with each sharp
“why?” or “how?” or “what now?”
Fill our holes—each and all of us who experience
pain or dis-ease or addiction or need of any kind—
fill our holes with your peace and undying love.
Fill us so we may know that life continues through your Spirit—
here and now,
and eternally. Amen.
